I am connecting to a PBX or other
DCE device and the UniGuard drops the call after authentication.
Most PBX ports are configure as DCE
devices and require a Null Modem connector to operate
with the UniGuard. The UniGuard is also configured as
a DCE so it needs a null modem connector to communicate
with another DCE. You can use a null modem adapter or
call CDI support for a CDI null modem connector.
I want to know about the UniGuard’s
internal modem ?
The UniGuard contains a MultiTech MT5634ZBA
modem.
Are UniGuard units flash upgradeable?
Yes, from version 7.01 and up. This
can be done automatically from the DDM.
Are there any special settings that
the UniGuard needs to be set for when working on Windows
95, Windows 98, or Windows NT platforms?
Yes, the data rate, data bits and parity
of the UniGuard should be the same as the host application
it is connected to. The modem should be programmed with
the DDM to have the Host AT Command Access as disabled.
Are there any specials settings for
Dial up Networking?
When dialing into a UniGuard using HyperTerminal dialout
or Dialup Network, the option Bring Up Terminal After
Dialing under Connection control should be Enabled (checkmarked).
You must also ensure that you are not using compression.
Are there any special settings that
the UniGuard needs to be set for when connected to a Unix
host system?
Yes, the data rate, data bits and parity
of the UniGuard should be the same as the Unix host application
it is connected to. The modem should be programmed with
the DDM to have the Host AT Command Access as disabled
This prevents any terminal messages from confusing the
UniGuard.
Are there any special Issues with Sun
Solaris serial ports?
Yes, We offer a special connector for
the SUN Sparc Station that overcomes the erratic behavior
of this port when connected to a dial modem. There are
also changes that need to made to the etc/default/login
file.
Are there any issues connecting to
Cisco routers?
When the UniGuard is connected to a
Cisco Router (2500 series, 4500 series, 3600 series) a
special host adapter can be provided between the UniGuard
host port and host application. Contact CDI about this
special adapter.
After the user successfully authenticates and is then
connected to the host application, the call drops.
DTR (data terminal ready) is not asserted
from the host application, so the UniGuard modem drops
the call. The connection between the UniGuard host port
and the host application is suspect. Check the host and/or
host application to determine if DTR is present. If not,
fix the host. Check to see that the host devices is configured
as a DTE
(Terminal) if not a null modem connector will be needed.
Otherwise contact CDI Technical Support.
Invalid authentication between a remote
Client Encryptor and UniGuard.
Make the sure the remote user enters
the proper User ID and Password. Make sure the Client
Encryptor unit ID and its authentication key are the same
as the one programmed in the host UniGuard’s database.
